Umbria Grand Cycling Tour
is a challenging itinerary

The Giro dell’Umbria by bike is a demanding cycle route because it covers 510 km with 8000 meters of total ascent, this means that the average slope is around 2.6%. There is no need to be an Olympic level athlete but a bit of training before the start is definitely advisable. The itinerary develops above all on secondary roads with very little or even zero traffic, in some cases, where possible, along the cycle paths in the area but this is only a small part of the entire route. The fatigue of the climbs will be compensated by the many descents, but above all by the absolutely unmistakable landscapes. The best time is spring and from April to the first days of July and then from the first days until the end of September and the first two weeks of October.

Bike rental On the Grand Cycling Tour!

The cycle route of the Umbria tour develops above all on paved roads or on compact white roads so it is suitable for any type of bike with the exception of racing bicycles with a non-puncture wheel. The most suitable bike for this type of itinerary is the gravel, characterized by a light aluminum frame, a carbon fork and 40 mm wheels that are very comfortable especially in the case of road surfaces that are not exactly perfect. If you use a road or endurance bike, it is useful to fit 28 mm tires for a more comfortable and safe ride.
